Learning beyond academic performance
MASTERY addressed youth workers’ continuing professional development through emotional intelligence and social skills. Its objectives recognised that formal education may give less attention to attitudes and interpersonal learning. The programme sought ways to support young people regardless of school performance, including early school leavers and those outside education, employment or training.
Expression, reflection and participation
Non-formal learning was proposed as a route to more inclusive youth work and participation in democratic life. The project connected its aims with the European Youth Goals, especially mental health and wellbeing. Participant accounts describe sharing experiences and emotions, reflecting on personal responses and finding encouragement to express themselves within an international group.
